Lamboo Elite

It is no secret that teak and other exotic woods are the preferred choice for use onboard superyachts. Substitutes and alternatives, despite their friendlier environmental credentials and undeniable performance qualities, are often ignored in favour of more traditional notions of luxury. Lamboo is a technology and manufacturing company composed of material scientists, architects, and engineers who are all focused on developing new products and materials that exceed industry performance standards. Its latest product line, Lamboo Elite, is a collection of engineered bamboo panels, components and veneers that were fabricated specifically for the nautical industry.
Especially manufactured for applications within the interiors of luxury yachts and luxury aircraft, this collection provides a sustainable alternative to the woods and plastic composites currently used in superyacht design. Processing Lamboo takes 15 per cent less embodied energy than wood and 300 per cent less energy than steel and aluminium production. Due to Lamboo’s patented process and the natural qualities of bamboo, this material will not warp as some hardwoods do under extreme temperature, climate and humidity changes. Lamboo is actually 20 per cent more stable than wood in moisture and temperature changes, 10 times stronger than wood in tension and on average three times stronger mechanically. Featuring flame retardant proprietary adhesives that resist moisture and microbes, the Lamboo Elite products are perfectly suited to the extreme environments experienced on board superyachts.
Panels can be stained or dyed to match most colour schemes and can accept extremely high gloss finishes specific to project requirements. Lamboo Elite products can be machined and sanded using conventional woodworking equipment, allowing for the ease of integration and minimal additions to product fabrication processes.
